Cause of death[edit]

It would be useful if a sourced cause of his death could be found, as this occurred while serving during WWII. As he was buried in the UK it is almost certain he died on home soil (the CWGC did not repatriate bodies of those killed abroad). As his widow was stated by the CWGC to be of Shoeburyness, home of one of the British Army's artillery ranges, it is probable his death might be reported in local Essex newspapers, possibly an inquest if he died by accident or other unnatural cause unconnected to enemy action.
