Was Ithamar in charge of the work of the Levites in general?[edit]

He (Ithamar) was also in charge of the work of the Levites in general? Is there a biblical or other reference to suggest than Ithamar (alone) was in charge of the work of the Levites in general, not Ithamar/Eleazar together or 'Aaron and his sons'?
