Untitled[edit]

I propose that this page on intermingling is developed into a greater resource. The social choices of why individuals fall in love with their significant other can be explored through analysis of cultural practices that lead up to choosing a spouse.

@Nytoussaint: Nyya: this is unsatisfactory work. Please step up and add a full outline of your proposed changes with several citations. Alfgarciamora (talk) 13:08, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Professor @Alfgarciamora: How should I approach the work for our class since there are links on this page connected to other pages with a lot of information that offer the content that can somewhat be presented on this page? Nytoussaint (talk) 21:40, 24 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
@Nytoussaint: I am VERY happy with the work that you added below. In the future, make sure to add your signature (with four "~" symbols) at the end of every statement you make on Wikipedia. In regards to your previous comment, I think that it is fine to use online sources that have a lot of information, but your PRIMARY purpose is to seek out peer-reviewed and published material to add rigorous sources to this page. So in short: you can use online sources, but you should not rest on these. Your goal is to use actual published materials. My suggestion is to use the online sources as indicators of where you should look for published material (ie: which authors you should look up, what articles might be good to consider, etc). As a student through the Wiki Education Foundation, in addition to the proposal stated above I plan to develop this page into a greater resource in the following ways; Intermingling needs to be identified as more then just the types of sexual relationships individuals enter with and what leads to those choices but expanded to include the social aspects also. It is my plan to offer viable research on the following topics:

  • Intermingling in the work place (personal vs. professional): The interactions that take place within the workplace can become blurred and individuals begin to form personal (sexual) relationships with their co-workers.

  • Intermingling in Religious Practice: In the lives of certain individuals intermingling takes place in the practice of religion. Individuals and groups have been known for combining(intermingling) two or more religious traditions creating a new form or totally different religion. A Common example of the intermingling of religion is the practice of Voodoo/Santeria in the caribbean were the originally African religions are now mingling with Catholic beliefs and symbols. Another is the pagan influence on Christianity which I think it worthwhile in adding to this article.

@Nytoussaint: These are great sources to begin with. One thing I would encourage you to do is to develop the outline so that you can see which topics you would like to pursue in depth. This last stuff on religion is interesting, but I don't know if it is as relevant. Look up the work on networking events, the formation of networks, etc. That would be a great place to see how intermingling can be a positive and/or negative thing.
