Triggering of the first massacres starting at sunrise on 7 April 1994[edit]

In a few hours the Presidential Guard and the Interahamwe militiamen had started fighting in Kigali and in certain other regions of Rwanda, especially in the North West. Even if the attacks were not organized beforehand, it appears that for all Rwandans, the initial attacks signified a strong and unambiguous signal. Those who were going to kill knew what they needed to do, and the Tutsis and moderate Hutus understood immediately that they were going to be attacked.

I commented the above out of the first section of the page. Can anybody think of a good way to revise it? I feel like it's in need of serious work. —CrazyDrumGuy 18:26, 5 August 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Could someone indicate how many Hutus, moderate or otherwise were killed this seems important. Theuth —Preceding unsigned comment added by 213.22.11.245 (talk) 22:32, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

"Choking on their own genitalia"[edit]

This is the most extreme version of several different accounts of how exactly the Belgians died. In fact they defended themselves for several hours with captured weapons before being killed, and other sources indicate they were killed in combat either by hand grenades or by machetes in close quarters. The Peterson quote about cutting tendons and gagging on penises ought to be qualified somehow in this and other articles where it is referenced.69.140.1.172 (talk) 17:14, 2 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

There is no evidence this happened. All investigations, court documents and witness accounts contradict the authors story. This story by author has also become the primary talking point about the genocide. Why is the 10 Belgium solders death in manor contradictory to all evidence so much more important and prominent on Wikipedia than the genocide of hundreds of thousands of Africans? I will remove and replace with actual UN/ICC documentation until I can learn how to find an admin to review the page. BevoLJ (talk) 23:56, 1 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
