Iconic Tower (Egypt)Iconic Tower – "Iconic Tower" used to refer people to "Legacy Tower in Bangladesh" and the page is now empty because they had no correlation and 'iconic' was only used as an adjective to refer to the Bangladesh tower, not as an actual name. Now, since Africa's tallest tower in Egypt under construction is officially called the 'Iconic Tower', it would make a lot more sense if it occupies the vacant wiki/Iconic_Tower page.[1][2][3][4][5]

  • Not for now, Iconic Tower is most likely just a working name and it will get a real one once completed. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 16:25, 21 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • That's not true, not a single source states that. "Iconic Tower" will be the official name of the tower. Unlike the capital itself which will have a different name in a few months, the tower is finalized. Other than that, everyone in Egypt has been referring to it as the 'Iconic Tower' for the past two years. Ziad Rashad (talk) 17:16, 27 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose. There is another Iconic Tower in Dhaka, also called the Legacy Tower but referred to here for example as the Iconic Tower. The Dhaka one gets more than 20,000 ghits. No evidence that either one is primary topic. Andrewa (talk) 11:32, 30 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Construction costs[edit]

Is there a reliable source for the construction costs of $3 billion? That would make it one of the most expensive skyscrapers ever built and that is very unlikely in a country with quite cheap labour costs. As a comparison the Burj Khalifa in Dubai only was half as expensive. $3 billion seem to be the cost for the whole area which contain several more towers and lowrise buildings. The real construction costs just of the tower may likely even below $1 billion. In New York City $3 billion would be a realistic price for such a building including the land and the air rights, but not in Egypt. One Vanderbilt for example had a similar construction cost. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bimmelbammel (talkcontribs) 09:07, 14 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
