Song he used to play a lot?[edit]

Does anybody know who did the version of Beyond the Blue Horizon with the interval of barnyard animal sounds that he used to play a lot on KCRW? AnonMoos (talk) 21:03, 7 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Assuming you have not gotten an answer it was Michael Nesmith and the First National Band from the album "Magnetic South".THX1136 (talk) 16:00, 18 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks (it's something I heard almost every week during much of the 80s, but not at all for the past 25 years). AnonMoos (talk) 01:20, 27 January 2015

Death date[edit]

There is an inconsistency between sources over whether he died on Monday 20 April - https://syncopatedtimes.com/pop-idol-turned-ragtime-legend-ian-whitcomb-has-died-at-78/ - or the previous day - https://bestclassicbands.com/ian-whitcomb-you-turn-me-on-obituary-4-20-20/. Can we resolve this please? Ghmyrtle (talk) 07:51, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

One of those articles says that the Tower record label had nothing to do with the Tower Records retail chain, so that link is probably wrong... AnonMoos (talk) 12:23, 21 April 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A nice man[edit]

He was a nice man. In the late '70s I performed for LA's Maple Leaf (ragtime) Club, and he bothered to approach me afterwards to tell me how much he enjoyed my set. I'm saddened to learn he's no longer with us. This doesn't have anything to do with his bio, but others who knew him may appreciate it. – AndyFielding (talk) 12:52, 1 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
