This page seems a good start as an entry on Hypnotherapy in the UK. Probably should link into the main Hypnotherapy page at some points. Definitely needs a section on UKCHO and Working Group for Hypnotherapy Regulation. Also on future regulation possibilities etc.

Would be good to add some more registers. Table seems useful.

Section on GHR & GHSC seems disproportionately large but is well referenced. However someone keeps undoing those sections and as no explanation is given it seems they have a private agenda on this? Abhinava1962 (talk) 17:10, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Apologies for forgetting to log in before making edits. Anyway, I've linked the hypnosis page and hypnotherapy page to this one and added it to the hypnosis navbar, which I've also added to this page. Hope everyone's okay with that. I think this information is important and can be kept balanced and impartial. It would be good to have pages on hypnotherapy as a field in the USA and other countries. Information on UKCHO and CNHC should be included here as well, I might see if I can get that started if I've got time. --HypnoSynthesis (talk) 23:06, 2 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Someone from WGHR added information that is uncited regarding how many hypnotherapists want VSR via CNHC. I have restated this as a "claim" - it needs a reference. However as it may only be personal opinion and is potentially influential and misleading then perhaps it should be removed if WGHR aren't going to back it up and publish the survey in the public domain? I have changed misleading information about the Hypnotherapy Society. This information claimed that the Society only had 680 members. However, the Society publishes its annual accounts which demonstrate a minimum membership of over 1300 and given the payment history of its members (with many at lower fees) substantiates the claim to 2000 members. I have therefore removed the claim that the HS has 680 "actual" members. This was allegedly done by counting entries on the find a therapist section of the HS website, but this is a voluntary section which does not reflect membership numbers (680 members at £80 a head would give less than half the actual turnover of the Society.) Counting the website today in fact yields over 1600 members. I have amended the misleading claim in this context that only the NCH membership was therefore publically verifiable.

Who knows what the membership of the Hypnotherapy Society entails as there are no grades or credentials against anyone's name. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.29.75.136 (talk) 14:52, 4 June 2010 (UTC)[reply]

All 1700 therapists posted on the HS website are professional grade members.

A number of pejorative and inaccurate comments have been removed.

========================================[edit]

This page is not a neutral, fair or unbiased account and should be seen for what it is: agenda based hypnotherapy politics. It continues to be used as such as of September 2010.

this page is a fair and accurate introduction to a subject not covered in wikipedia - hypnotherapy is a major business in the UK - the four registers mention are completely unconnected with each other and are not businesses and therefore cannot be advertized

this was a beautiful article until a vandal deleted it —Preceding unsigned comment added by Fetticles (talkcontribs) 20:21, 22 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

This information appears to be partly inaccurate and should be changed: "The British Society of Clinical Hypnosis (BSCH) Is a body representing professional hypnotherapists in the UK who are trained to a known and verifiable standard (UKCP accreditation or University accreditation." The BSCH seems to be the professional register of the LCCH (London College of Clinical Hypnosis) - and as far as I can tell, not "a national professional body" as the website claims.

Neither the BSCH nor the LCCH are organizational members of UKCP (http://www.psychotherapy.org.uk/hypno.html) and their training is not validated to lead to UKCP accreditation which the current wording falsely implies. The LCCH website says they are organizational members of BACP - but this does not confer any accreditation value - it simply means the organization pays an annual fee to be a member. Thames Valley University apparently accredits post-graduate certificates and diplomas in Clinical Hypnosis - but it is unclear how this relates to psychotherapy accreditation.

It is interesting that the article makes no mention of the two organizations that do provide training leading to UKCP accreditation in hypno-psychotherapy: Beeleaf (http://www.beeleaf.com) and NCHP (http://www.hypnotherapyuk.net). Nor does it mention the NRHP (http://www.nrhp.co.uk ) or NCSAG (http://www.hypno-psychotherapy.net ) registers of hypnotherapists who have received training leading to full UKCP accreditation. The NCHP training has recently been accredited at Level 7 by Qualifi (source college enewsletter - cannot find on website) and as it is one of the oldest hypnotherapy training organizations I think the article should include some mention of it. I admit that I may be somewhat biased as a graduate of NCHP - but this is still an omission that should be addressed.

The stress on the current discussion about hypnotherapy in the UK seems mainly about quantity not quality!

This page is now outdated[edit]

With the move towards voluntary regulation much of this page is out of date and I have removed some of it. Also it seems very partial and lumpy in terms of which organisations are mentioned. I will work further on updating information on the different aspects of hypnotherapy in the UK.
