Discrepancy[edit]

Arabic script نشيد وطني سوري‎ does not correspond to Latin script "Homat el Diyar". It should be clarified... AnonMoos 04:16, 30 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

English Translation[edit]

The English translation is complete gibberish - it's as if the person knows the first couple of lines of the anthem, and then mumbled the rest incoherently. Here's what was provided: Protectors of their homes on Peace

She refused to be humiliated souls honored Den of Arabism House haram The throne Suns fever is not Idham Throughout the Levant Bruges Ela Do not simulate the sky Baali Suns ancient earth shake Sky for you or Samawah

Shelving aspirations and beating heart Aware of the annexation included the country As it from every eye, either It is the blood of the martyr of all trucks? The hearts of his father and a glorious past The spirit of the venerable sheep sergeant Newborn safer and our good

Why not blacks did not applaud?

Seriously, "Why not blacks did not applaud?"????

Unfortunately my Arabic is not strong enough to translate the anthem but not so bad as to see the translation is nonsense (and that line "Why not blacks did not applaud?" does not occur)

Watchlist problem[edit]

Having Homat el Diyar on your watchlist can (at least currently) break the watchlist for unknown reasons. See Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Special:Watchlist not working. PrimeHunter (talk) 00:24, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I thought it was because my Watchlist was too big... Seems to be working now. AnonMoos (talk) 07:58, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]
A big watchlist was also my first theory. It also works for me after a developer fixed it.[1] PrimeHunter (talk) 12:39, 4 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Transliteration[edit]

Actually I don't think there is anybody who loves those long vowel symbols more than me, but I thought from my last experience here that you people didn't like the "freaking weird watchlist-breaking" symbols. Anyway, the text looks better to my taste now. HD1986 (talk) 13:58, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Well, you actually changed the title to some truly bizarre gibberish which had a lot of percent-signs in it ("%"), and in any case the rules for titles are not exactly the same as the rules for article text... AnonMoos (talk) 16:21, 3 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Prior to 1936 Anthem[edit]

Does anyone know the tune and name of the Syrian national anthem prior to 1936?David Betesh (talk)

There may not have been one. Before 1936, there were actually a number of separate mandates, not viewed by the French as any kind of unified entity (i.e. Aleppo and Jebal Druze were basically considered as separate from Damascus as Lebanon was...) Translation Quality[edit]

Calm down people, I have professionally re-translated the literal part to make it much more accurate (I don't use artificial translators, I am a professional translator). Also, I changed the other English translation on the bottom to make it an artistic re-interpretation that makes a lot more sense than the literal translation. New Sections added![edit]

I have taken the time to add two important sections to the article: "Structure" and "Anthem Summary". No thanks needed ;) Moester101 (talk) 09:40, 3 August 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Ħumāt ad-Diyār[edit]

There are too many misspelings and unclear moments in the transliteration, so it is to be cleared, maybe not by ME, but if it is possible, it is likely to do soon.195.122.250.196 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 12:26, 24 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Are there any source for the usage by Syrian Opposition[edit]

This is unsourced claim that i can only find in Wikipedia it seems like Cactus Ronin (talk) 19:00, 6 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]
