Wrong translation?[edit]

I think the old name House of Representatives (Libya) is more appropriate. Representative is the man who represents people, while deputy is a man acts for a superior chief.--Maher27777 (talk) 14:36, 9 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

See the France and Ireland meanings here: wikt:deputy#Noun. The linguistic origin is that the electee is sent by the electors on a mission to represent them. The meanings are related: the electors are supposed to be the "superior chief" here. It's up to Libyans and English-language sources to choose what English translation they prefer in the long term. What's the point of translating the name of the HoR to Italian?[edit]

Didn't the Italian protectorate end after WW2? Italy has no involvement in Lybia ever since, and if this is not true, please come with verifiable truth. Meanwhile the Italian translation is ommitted. Maravjua (talk) 12:46, 31 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
