Ruins of Sarta ?![edit]

Sarta appears to be nowhere near the Gulf of Arabah and therefore nowhere near Hormah. Is this mention correct? BobKilcoyne (talk) 05:27, 11 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

The wikilink connected to the wrong Sarta, one in the western West Bank. I removed the link. But where is the Transjordanian one, under Tafileh? But
  1. Tafileh is commonly identified with biblical Tophel - is anyone saying that Tophel = Sarta? Very confusing. And
  2. Tafileh is quite high up, does it still count as Arabah? Or should it read: east OF the Arabah?
And BobKilcoyne above adds to the confusion: Arabah is a desert valley, Aqaba a gulf on the Red Sea. But that's cute, the rest isn't. Arminden (talk) 12:44, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Rainey main source offered, but not accessible[edit]

Van Parunak, hi.

"Anson Rainey offers a thorough discussion of the options and references to supporting studies on p. 122 of his book, The Sacred Bridge." (ISBN 965-220-529-X)

Rainey in general is an excellent source, but the book only appears with a snippet of a few lines on Google Books, which contains nothing on Hormah's identification. It is not possible for other editors to elaborate and build up on this source, or to use it for related topics. Could you please either summarise Rainey's suggested sites, quote the relevant passage, or maybe offer a different source? Maybe the same content can be reached somewhere on academia.org or other platforms? Thanks. Arminden (talk) 12:48, 10 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
