Connection with the True Cross?

I had always thought that the name Holyrood was derived from the legend that pieces of the True Cross were housed there. Does anyone have any information on this? -- ML5 09:30, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

Pronunciation

There has been much debate in Scotland over the pronunciation of Holyrood. Most television newscasters and politicians say Holly-rood. Does anyone have any information on the traditional way of pronouncing it? If so, I think it should be added to the article's page. -- ML5 09:30, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

WP:ImageSize

People will find it best not to define image size. The default will show at 220px. I have set my user settings to display at 300px for default images. By forcing a size you are making images appear rather small on the display.

The following addition was made to the article referring to Grant's Old and New Edinburgh, "In 1607 John Bothwell redeveloped the ancillary accommodation of Holyrood Abbey which he had acquired from his father, Adam Bothwell. He named the structure Holyrood House." The reference in Grant actually states. "In 1607 part of the abbey property, together with the monastery itself, was converted into a temporal peerage for him and his heirs, by the title of Lord Holyroodhouse." Nothing there about redeveloping ancillary accomodation of Holyrood Abbey. Rather, it is clear that Bothwell (as commendator of the abbey) converted the religious holding of part of the abbey property (which extended well beyond Holyrood itself) and the whole of the monastery, not just the ancillary accommodation, into a temporal peerage. Bothwell did not call the "structure" Holyrood House - he named the peerage Holyroodhouse.82.37.141.26 (talk) 13:45, 21 January 2019 (UTC)
