External Links[edit]

@Whiteguru: You recently added the External Links tag to this page, indicating that the external links aren't appropriate, but the only current external link is to the press's website. Can you help me understand why that link is inappropriate? Also, your note regarding your edit was "needs more references," which doesn't seem to explain your edit regarding external links. Can you clarify? I'm a relatively new Wikipedia editor and want to make sure this page, which I created, follows appropriate guidelines. Thanks! Grn1749 (talk) 15:00, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

  • @Grn1749: Thanks for your questions. Many of the references are primary, in particular, interviews don't count as reliable references. So rather than leave the article dangling in the air awaiting review or deletion, I asked for a little more research and commentary around Holy Cow! Press. It's not about you (its good work) its about appropriate references. --Whiteguru (talk) 21:13, 7 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Whiteguru: Two of the references are articles from outside sources - one from Poets & Writers magazine, and the other from the Duluth News Tribune. Are more than two reliable sources needed to justify a Wikipedia article? I'm happy to add to the article, I'm just trying to understand what's necessary so it isn't proposed for deletion. @Grn1749: What we are looking for - for an organisation - is found here: WP:SIRS, which tells

The primary criteria have five components that must be evaluated separately and independently to determine if it is met:

  1. significant coverage in
  2. multiple
  3. independent
  4. reliable
  5. secondary sources

So, looking at the references,

  1. does not pass - they are writing about themselves
  2. passes, it is independent
  3. is an interview. These normally don't count.
  4. passes, it is independent
  5. Natalie Goldberg - does not seem to be relevant
  6. Is Holy Cow! online shop, this is not independent.

So what I suggest is to get at least one more independent reference that satisfies the guidelines above, and all's well that ends well! --Whiteguru (talk) 21:58, 8 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Whiteguru: Got it. Thank you! Grn1749 (talk) 18:28, 10 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]
