Started Article[edit]

The article is mostly copied from Social work however I have written a little on American History. It's a little annecdotal, so myself or another editor needs to expand and add some analysis to it. The main section could be tidied up and expanded as well.--rakkar (talk) 06:22, 19 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Why is there no mention of the sterilisation of "undesirables", under which 'social workers' acted as judgement, in the early 20th century? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.102.33.18 (talk) 14:51, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to Wikipedia, User talk:87.102.33.18. The obvious answer is because no one has written it. Do feel free to add a referenced paragraph on the topic if it is of concern to you. --rakkar (talk) 22:34, 26 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

HIST 208 Peer Review (Canadian History)[edit]

For the most part this is a very well written article. Adding the Canadian history heading to this article helps expand and helps educate the reader, especially because Canadian history in most of these stubs is overlooked. There are very good references and a lot of research that had to be done to complete this article. Grammar and punctuation do not seem to be an issue and everything is grouped in paragraphs nicely. A way that I thought could make the article jump off the page a little more would be by adding a picture. It could help pull the reader in and make him or her want to read the article. One other thing that might help would be removing the couple red statements in the article that do not link to any other page, or incorporate another word that links to the topic instead. Adding more content to this article to make it 2500 words is also required for our class. All in all I found this a very good article and it was very interesting. I had never thought about the history of social work in Canada, and I’m glad I got a little bit more educated by reading it. It was a job well done. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Tanissteinbach (talkcontribs) 20:11, 21 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Another HIST 208 Peer Review[edit]

Your additions to this article are very informative and organized. The adding of a section on the Canadian history was a superb idea and very educational in itself. The separate sections of the article are logically and chronologically arranged which aids the reader by directing focus to specific time periods. I think the edits you have made are excellently done and cannot see anything wrong with this article, well done. Cmeyer8 (talk) 20:46, 22 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Many many of the articles in the category 'Social Work' are very very messed up. This is one.[edit]

I just removed this random phrase with no period from the end of a paragraph about halfway through the article: 'mother of palawan society' It was just hanging there and had no sensible relation to anything. That seems to be the case with many of the articles in this Category Section. Random nonsense sentances (or even paragraphs) misspelling things, unclear, no punctution, bad formatting. In fact, i have been systematically reading the pages in this section, and I am not lieing, the past 5 articles from the category i have read, IN A ROW, are fucked up. Look at my edit history, I have made changes in articcles right before this edit. I am actually not lieing. That is pretty bad when you go to a category and read the articles and you get messed up articles that need a lot of help 5X in a ROW. At random!! This Category section needs serious help. I do not have the time to edit them all either, I have to read aboout things.

Sections[edit]

For some reason there are two "Canadian history" sections, both before and after the section "American history." Epigrammed (talk) 19:24, 2 July 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Both sections appear to have been written by students as part of a school assignment and rely on just one or two citations for a substantial amount of text. The first section additionally seems to contain tangential digressions on the Cold War and peace movement, and its style seems overly conversational. I would recommend merging the two sections by integrating information from the first into the second, then removing the first. - J. Conti 108.20.137.173 (talk) 02:52, 22 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

pre-Constantinian Christian social work[edit]

This section makes it seem like Christianity was only involved in charity and social justice in the post-Constantinian era. That isn't true. I don't have the references at my fingertips to support an edit right now, but this section should be changed.
