I have created this page. I think the early licensing section needs the most work, particularly in the roles of the universities and professional associations. The history of the GMC can be addressed in more detail on the GMC page. I would very much welcome any ideas or contributions.

Regulation is derivate of Regula or Regulus

Medical Regulation of Emergencies or Medico Sanitary regulation : Is the task and function of Regulator Physician in a Medical Emergency Call Center of an regional Integrated Emergency Medical System called in several countries SAMU. This wikipedia entry has been infortunately by some lobbies wikipedia censorhip! Regulation meaning here is different of "Control" "Coordination" "Dispatch".

It might be useful to have an account of the Medical and Dental Students' Registers, which were published annual by the GMC from the 1870s until the onset of the second world war. Why were they set up? Why were they discontinued? Dame Janet Smith, who chaired the Shipman Inquiry which reported in 2002, advised setting up such a register for medical students.
