Another model?[edit]

Could it be said that another model for Hilda was (despite the difference in gender) Benjamin Britten? Was not her all-female opera Emily Butter a satire of Britten's all-male opera Billy Budd? Certainly some people thought so and accused the BBC of bad taste when in 1976 (as far as I recall) they repeated the plays while Britten was on his death-bed. There's reinforcement of the Benjamin Britten suggestion here, with the assertion that 'the original title of "Emily Butter" was to have been "Milly Mudd"' Bidmead (talk) 07:40, 17 February 2016 (UTC)[reply]
