Split proposal[edit]

  • maybe It depends on what sort of split. Family history in one place, famous names in another ? I could imagine splitting off the family crest part, but only once a drawing of the crest is included. Maybe I should do one ! But.. if people want to split it, maybe they could point us at another family name which they believe has benefitted from splitting.

well[edit]

this is just one Hickey family, from a particular place. Other Hickeys come from people in Cornwall, elsewhere in Ireland and abroad, people without names and because it is such a simple name. There are. for example, Maori Hiki's. There are also different spellings of this name.

This family history does not refer to all these Hickeys neither is the family crest that for the Erin, Drim, Ballyhickey or Quin Hickeys, it is a bent arm holding a stick.

Nor is the position of travelling doctor analagous to shaman. Nor is the history of sweat and leech medicine mentioned.

William Hickey was related to James, but not Thomas.

Nor is there any mention of the dispersal of the family before and during the famine.

removal of Hickey Surname[edit]

I wrote most of the surname bit and did a lot of the original subcategorisation of the names. Although i had nothing to do with it, I am pleased to see the Surname section split off. It works well and looks good - the page was becoming too long. Well done to whoever did it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 86.151.21.236 (talk) 09:09, 23 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
