Is 'She was the daughter of the prophet Isaiah' really true? Is it merely a Jewish tradition (in which case, it should be labelled as such) or is there some evidence (which should be cross-referenced)?Dwlegg (talk) 08:51, 14 April 2018 (UTC)dwlegg[reply]

According to this writer's page: http://mesuandrews.com/how-do-we-know-isaiahs-daughter/ the information allegedly comes from the Encyclopaedia Judaica, second edition, in the article on King Manasseh. Further, she claims that the Encyclopaedia's information comes from the 'ancient Jewish text', the Aggadah. It must be considered, though, that the writer in question (seemingly a prolific writer of biblical fiction) produced a book called 'Isaiah's Daughter', so she is clearly invested in making these claims, and phrases such as 'One of the greatest joys of writing biblical fiction is the rock-solid foundation of Scripture’s Truth. Knowing without a doubt what the absolute truths of my story will come from God’s Word—I won’t deviate at all from what the Bible says', I think speak for themselves... I know nothing about Jewish texts, and have no copy of the Encyclopaedia Judaica, so what she says may well be the case; even if the Encyclopaedia, when checked, corroborates the statement, however, I agree that a clear statement ought to be made along the lines of 'the Encyclopaedia Judaica, second edition's article on King Manasseh, itself based on the ancient Jewish text, the Aggadah, states that Hephzibah was Isaiah's daughter'- possibly with further reference to the fact that this is not a widely circulated piece of information.

Searching Google books yields no support for the writer's asseveration whatsoever; all other reference books appear to restrict themselves to mentioning Hephzibah's relationship to Hezekiah and Manasseh. A cursory online search also provides conflicting statements that Hephzibah was a 'Phoenician princess', so clearly consensus on the matter is far from in place! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.2.113.171 (talk) 02:45, 18 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
