Cleanup[edit]

I put the {{wikify}}, {{POV}} and {{tone}} templates on this article for the following reasons:

it is not written in the required format for a Wikipedia article (see WP:MoS and Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Style guidelines). For one thing, it shouldn't start off with "Roller derby is..." but "Hell on Wheels is...".
it does not comply with the NPOV policy (e.g.: "The story is as compelling and dramatic as the premise", "this gripping documentary", etc.)
the tone used is not appropriate for an encyclopedia (e.g.: "Sure, it’s roller derby, but it’s not what you think")

If someone could clean up this mess so that it looks less like a critique and more like a neutral and informative encyclopedia entry, that would be great. IronC hris | (talk) 04:56, 9 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Roller derby info should be moved to roller derby site[edit]

This page is about a film about roller derby in Texas, not about roller derby in general. Even though a brief introduction about the sport would be appropriate, this article really should focus on the film. Fredsmith2 12:35, 1 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Currently there are two leagues packing houses and holding bouts in Austin, Texas. The media are moving in and the Austin leagues have been featured on Comedy Central's Insomniac, on the ABC show Switched, The CBS Morning Show, The Today Show, Access Hollywood, MSNBC, HD Net TV, TNT and on A&E with the new reality show "Rollergirls." Articles have appeared in Spin, Jane, Bust, Paper, New York Times, Los Angeles Times, Playboy Magazine, Variety, Hollywood Reporter, Newsday and several other national and international publications.

The success of these Texas leagues has inspired hundreds of women across the country to get on their skates and organize derbies in their own hometowns and cities.

HELL ON WHEELS is the birth of the rollergirl revolution, chronicling the creation of the first modern-era women's roller derby league, the Lonestar Rollergirls and the breakaway league, the Texas Rollergirls. Filmed from the trenches, HELL ON WHEELS delivers the struggles and eventual success of the rollergirls as they construct a new sport and set forth to conquer the globe. Hell on Wheels had its World Premiere at the Paramount Theater in Austin, Texas for the South by Southwest Film Festival on March 11th, 2007.
