Question about maintenance tags[edit]

I would like to know which parts of this are written like an advertisement. If someone is notable for having done important things, how does one impart their importance? Also what are inappropriate materials to include? Djripley (talk) 02:46, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

@Djripley: If you look through the article history you can find the user who added the tags to ask for more information. If you link to the person's username in a talk page message, it generates a little notification (like this line likely did for you). In this case, the user was Bolelyn. The easiest way to link to someone's name is like this: {{u|Bolelyn}}. You can also "ping someone," which formats the response slightly differently. @Djripley: This is a ping (just {{ping|Djripley}}). — Rhododendrites talk \\ 21:59, 9 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Edited language so that all descriptives are taken from third party reporting in newspapers or academic sources. Djripley (talk) 05:18, 22 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
