Okiedokie. I've seen these mentioned in fire investigation reports. They sure seem related though. It would be good to have a non-copyrighted picture. Should probably mention one another? No harm right? --Achim (talk) 05:38, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, it couldn't hurt anything, but as they do not interact in the building, it doesn't seem correct. Is a better way to link them to make sure they are both catagorized correctly? I'm not sure how to do that. I'll also check to see if they are both listed on the Wikiproject Fire Protection page list. Fireproeng (talk) 06:44, 24 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Both systems DO the same thing, which is to get rid of smoke and heat. Smoke exhaust ducting is not as commonplace in North America as it is in Europe. If you were modelling a place, you would consider the whole thing, including these two methods for getting rid of smoke. Categorising is not as easy either. Smoke exhaust ductwork is made of PFP stuff and the testing is PFP. But then there's motion of the smoke, vents, motors etc., which is AFP. Maybe we need a hermaphrodite thing. I suppose the correct hing is just fire protection, or BOTH afp and pfp. For that matter, you could say the intumescents fit both camps too, especially duct internal dampers from Europe that are made of steel grids laced with intumescents......On that topic, we don't have a page on fire dampers as yet....--Achim (talk) 00:07, 25 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can someone explain what the potential conflict is between natural smoke ventilation and sprinklers? Is it that convective updraft might prevent the water from the sprinklers from reaching the fire source? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.117.122.24 (talk) 19:06, 12 March 2013 (UTC)[reply]
