I'd like to add a section discussing third-party tools for working with HCUP data. The formats that HCUP supports are SAS, SPSS, and STATA and even then it's a mix of which tools are available for which databases and which years. Full disclosure: I wrote a toolset for working with HCUP SID data in Python that I'd particularly like to reference. Hopefully that in and of itself isn't a problem since the bulk of this page is content provided by HCUP and reproduced from their website... Terryjbiel (talk) 16:04, 8 May 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Multiple issues[edit]

I've just gutted the article. A user or group of users (paid), using IPs and accounts, have introduced promo and copyvio text since the article was started by one of them. They have also never declared themselves as paid.

I think this article should be rebuilt however the community wishes, by non-paid editors.

Request to remove semi-protected status[edit]

I am a new Wikipedia user. I've carefully reviewed the article on HCUP and have added multiple outside references and removed marketing language. I'm ready to update the article to address the issues noted but it's semi-protected. HCUP is a valuable resource funded by the federal government and used worldwide for health services research. A search of the term HCUP in PubMed (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/) yields nearly 700 items, most of which are articles in peer-reviewed journals.

I believe we meet the notability requirements and can resolve the other issues raised. Please remove the current semi-protected status so that I can edit the page.

Thank you. Doreen Bonnett Dmbonnett (talk) 16:44, 30 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

@Dmbonnett: Hi there and welcome to Wikipedia. I hope you find your time rewarding here. Because you work for the agency you are encouraged to make request the edits here. The easiest way to do this for smaller stuff to click "View source" or "Edit" and then click the blue button that says request edit. If it's a larger edit you could make it in your sandbox and then link to it here. I promise that I am monitoring this page - others might be also - and would be happy to work with you to incorporate more encyclopedic information into this article.
