I must disagree with the changes made by User:Cuchullain. As the section reads now, there is nothing notable. This editor states he is "Toning down tangentially-related Brenton Butler material", when in fact, he removed the points that were notable. The fact that "Butler was acquitted by the jury in less than an hour." and "The jury also issued a statement that was critical of the arrest and prosecution." are significant. Cuchullain's text, "the State Attorney's office and JSO took the unusual step of apologizing to him" is an attempt to gloss over the fact that "Shorstein and Sheriff Nat Glover personally apologized to Brenton Butler and his family". I don't appreciate your tone, Mgreason. The fact is that the Butler case is only tangentially related to Harry Shorstein and doesn't belong in his biography. His only connection to it is that it was one of many murder cases prosecuted while he was State Attorney, he did not prosecute it himself as far as I know (at least none of the sources you provided indicate that he did). Even if he did, all the details about the investigation and the jury's finding belong at the article for on the case, they do certainly do not need to be replicated at all the articles that mention the case (essentially the same text was inserted into the Nat Glover article). The wording of the material was also thoroughly slanted, something forbidden by NPOV and especially BLP. Finally, the source did not indicate that Shorstein and Glover personally apologized to Butler, it only says that their offices did. An encyclopedia article should not consist of random news items that mention the subject in some way.--Cúchullaint/c 18:21, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]
