Probate court[edit]
the community wanted to built a church on the site of the former saloon, at which time the probate court transferred ownership from "The Devil" to the Half Acre Community Church. Does this mean the Devil is legally dead ??? 213.40.229.32 (talk) 13:16, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Half Acre vs Luther's Store[edit]
Half Acre and Luther's Store are two different communities. Half Acre sits at the intersection of Marengo County highway 17 and the old Linden to Nanafalia Road (now the Rembert Hills Road north of the intersection, and Half Acre Circle south of the intersection). Luther's Store was a community of about 20 families on a hilltop about a mile west of Half Acre. That community is gone, with only the old cemetery and a few home foundations remaining.
The first community in this area appears on maps about 1839, and was originally named Beaver Creek. The post office at Beaver Creek was established in 1836 and discontinued in 1840. "Half Acre" appears for the first time on a map in 1865. The Half Acre Post Office was established in 1855 and discontinued in 1858. Luther's Store appears on maps for the first time in 1878; its post office was established in 1875 and discontinued in 1911.
