Request for feedback[edit]

about your request for some 'tidying' of the language, can i ask for a few clarifications?

Since 2001 the additional name Europaschule (europe school) has been officially used

Does this mean it's been used as a title, or as part of the schools name (e.g., 'Gymnasium der Stadt Kerpen Europaschule')?

bilingual German-English branch

what's a branch? is it an educational pathway? if so, i'd guess that the english translation would be course, module, option, elective? not entirely sure tho...

At the sixth form (grades 11 to 13 respective 10 to 12)

Sorry, i don't understand what you mean here...

Gymnasium der Stadt Kerpen (German, City of Kerpen high-school)

is my translation right? especially translating Gymnasium --> high-school?

by the way, your English is pretty good. --Dak (talk) 08:51, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • It means that the school is officially an “europe school”. And you can also use the additional name for example in the address (like here). You can also use the title “Gymnasium der Stadt Kerpen – Europaschule”.
  • “Branch” means a way.
  • See the article Abitur after twelve years (old system in Germany: Abitur after thirteen years; new system: after twelve years).
  • I would say maybe “High school of city Kerpen” or “High school of the city Kerpen”. The meaning of the word “der” means “from the” or “of the”. My dictionary says “high school” for “Gymnasium”.
By the way: there is a difference if you say that a school is an “european school” or an “europe school”! In Germany there are these both names/terms. See the German articles de:Europäische Schulen (“european schools”) and de:Europaschule (“europe school”). — PsY.cHo, 22:13, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
