the example images are all from a single company, Animate Your Science. it almost feels like an advertisement. most graphical abstracts i have encountered don't look anything like the images shown in this article. instead of an exciting but irrelevant fictional narrative (james bond? really?) they usually show a diagram of the actual experimental setup or an illustration of the model organisms used in the experiment, and are drawn on a white background in a neutral, minimal, even "boring" style. since i am reading the article to learn more about graphical abstracts, i don't feel comfortable making bold claims about what is common or standard practice. do some publishers enforce rigid style guidelines? who draws them? is it common to use an illustration company or do most scientists usually make their own? 157.131.250.246 (talk) 05:03, 31 December 2020 (UTC)[reply]
