Grammatics band members'name[edit]

Changes to the Article - Influence? Blur etc ...[edit]

I am not very sure about the start of this article. Maybe the band wrote it themselves! hehe! However, there is no mention of the influcences they quote on their website and myspace. I think it needs to be changed - I mean not mentioning even 'Cursive'??? Tell me what you think.:) Inkjetlakes (talk) 17:31, 20 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Checked on the band website - Blur and Suede do appear, so they will stay. I'm planning to add a few more 'older' bands that they say might have influenced them. I will link to their Myspace as a source. - Cursive (big influence I think), My Bloody Valentine, Nirvana, Radiohead, Low, Elliot Smith (another big influence too), Queens of the Stone Age, Arcade Fire, Idlewild, Bjork, Kate Bush, Irvine Welsh - writer and big influence on the lyrics.

The other bands they are mentioning are 'newer' and might not be known by your average reader - we might mention them too? What do you think? - They are .. The National, Six by Seven, The Icarius Line, The English Language, Les Guys Dabords, the Veils, Seminals, Bat for Lashes, Refused, This et Al. Oh well, there is much to learn in Wikipedia! It seems that Myspace is not considered as a source! I do not know if I agree with this but there must be a good reason behind it. However, now I am stuck for a reference on the above as the influences they quote on Myspace do not appear on the band's website. Hmm - Dilemma. What the Page Needs[edit]

Here is a list of the things the page could do with - feel free to agree or disagree!

- Update of discography (the recent Murderer EP with all the remixes and the new single Double Negative + B side). It would be good to have the exact date for the issue of singles and LP. All referenced maybe to DTTR.

- Update of their history. Well, we might need to mention the recent change in line up and to be fair Colour of Fire should be mentioned somewhere!

- A list of concerts played - I can get that from Songkick. Later on we can add setlist etc (maybe too ambitious right now!)

- If I feel inspired, I could add more about the music itself etc ... There are loads of info on that subject on the Grammatics forum where Owen and Rory explain more about their inspiration etc ..

- Talking about the Grammatics Forum, I think it should get a link too! Inkjetlakes (talk)

I am not sure the above will qualify as an 'official' site - however, it is fully controlled by the band as they are administrator of the forum themselves. The question and answer thread for example is a valuable source to quote among many.I'll put it on anyway with the tag 'official' in front of it. I have also been doing some homework and looking at some featured articles/albums and songs. We might need a lot more on our page! To add to the list then.

- the album page is a stub so it will need expanding ... maybe urgently

- the singles themselves could do with the same treatment

The discography page has now been set up - there is still work to do on it. Everybody's welcome to contribute. Genre?[edit]

History[edit]

I am planning next to revise this chapter in the main article. There are a lot of details missing from the 'beginnings'. I think the following at least should be mentioned.
- Owen Brinley/Richards and Colour of Fire
- How Owen, Dom, Rory got to meet each other - Djing etc ...
- How they got signed to DTTR
- Explain (briefly!) change of line up

Bandcamp final release?[edit]

Anyone remember what the final release they did via Bandcamp or a similar website. Not the Krupt EP, but it was a series of demos etc. they released for a limited time online in conjuction with their final tour and EP Apeholder (talk) 14:54, 20 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
