Sarah Vowell recounts her early years working at Arader's San Francisco gallery and being sent to Philly to learn from "the Master" in her book The Partly Cloudy Patriot, including several second-hand anecdotes about "the Grahamerator". Asat (talk) 06:38, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have not read Sarah Vowell's book, but in the Maphist archive at http://mailman.geo.uu.nl/pipermail/maphist/2007-January/009106.html Arader writes of Vowell's book: [redacted] --Blake the bookbinder (talk) 08:50, 5 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I have not read Vowell's book either, but I have redacted the quotation from Arader, because it is almost certainly a violation of WP:BLP. Arader's raw statements about Vowell are not quoted from a "reliable source". (For one thing, the link is dead.) From a logical point of view, he was simply agreeing very loudly and insultingly with the self-admitted second-hand nature of Vowell's reporting, and then he throws in a tiny little insulting denial. The statements were mostly the self-serving casting of insinuations and aspersions, and as such, are not allowed on WP, not even on a Talk page.
As it is, I haven't read the book, I have no particular intention to read the book, but I simply can't imagine the Vowell reference being anything more than a footnote to go along with the other references to Arader's personality. Quoting blow-by-blow accounts of incidents is simply way too pointless. It is definitely not encyclopedic. Choor monster (talk) 14:09, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Blatant vanity page[edit]

This is a blatant vanity page in need of citations. Historianofart (talk) 17:24, 1 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

An Advertisement for Arader Galleries?[edit]

This reads more like an advertisement for Arader's business than a factual biography. Is that the purpose of Wikipedia? Needs much work and citations. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.160.218.42 (talk) 01:36, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

I have improved the layout (chronological order, clear sections) and removed most of the POV. However, the article still needs a lot of references/citations. Feel free to help.Zigzig20s (talk) 05:33, 24 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]
There's a chapter about Arader in Simon Garfield On The Map, due out in paperback next week. Choor monster (talk) 20:23, 30 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I believe this is about Arader's father[edit]

This seems to be talking about Arader's father. [1] He is not named "Jr" since "Sr" is no longer living. Choor monster (talk) 14:37, 5 November 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • No, it's about W. Graham Arader III, the owner of the present galleries. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 204.210.153.1 (talk) 08:55, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]
    • And based on what do you make your assertion? The link refers to Walter G. Arader, not W. Graham Arader, and gives his age as 94. Choor monster (talk) 16:04, 13 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Is the neutrality of this article still disputed?[edit]

The tag has been up since last October, and there don't seem to be any more criticisms. If no one raises any objections within a week, I assume the tag can go. Choor monster (talk) 18:41, 8 August 2014 (UTC)[reply]
