On October 2013, it was proposed that this article be moved from George Wagner to Gorgeous George. The result of the discussion was moved.

ahem Meme Meme Me[edit]

I'm slightly annoyed by one comment on this page in particular. "Musical performers such as Liberace, Little Richard, Elton John and Morris Day show signs of the George meme. Some consider George to have been an early advancer of camp." Now while with proper support this statement could be considered to be accurate, it looks far more to me like anyone and everyone whose heterosexuality has been put into question due to their effeminate nature was added as a follower of Gorgeous George. Likewise the statement "The 1951 Warner Brothers Merrie Melodies cartoon Bunny Hugged featured the one-shot character "Ravishing Ronald", modeled after Gorgeous George." is erroneous as well. While the character's name was intentionally similar to Gorgeous George, the character itself was modeled not after George, but after Buddy Rose —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.214.22.251 (talk) 23:57, 15 March 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Influence on other wrestlers[edit]

I wonder if it would be worth adding some of the wrestlers who used the "flamboyant" persona pioneered by GG. Adrian Street would be an obvious example. I'm sure there have been plenty others but I'm not an expert in this field. Tigerboy1966 10:51, 5 September 2018 (UTC)[reply]
