Regarding the inclusion of the above and MOS:DABRL, I would point out that one reason for removing the entry was because the nature of Bell's career was such that he appeared to be unlikely to satisfy notability guidelines – that the red link would be to an article "unlikely ever to be written, or ... likely to be removed as insufficiently notable topics". Similarly, the inclusion of said red link in other articles also seems contrary to WP:REDLINK.

It would have still been useful to keep the entry with Bell's name unlinked, provided a blue link in the description would lead to an article which contains "some meaningful information about the term" (the term being "Gordon Bell (actor)"). However, each article in which Bell is mentioned merely lists one minor credit for him, which I judged to fail the criteria; keeping the entry therefore seemed to run risk of using a disambiguation page as a (rather limited) database for Bell's credits, rather than a navigational aid to access "meaningful information" about the guy. Hence, my other reason for removing.
