Synopsis[edit]

I am not sure, but I think the 1947 film ended with The Varsity Drag, which in the Broadway original was in Act I. One thing about that number, in the 1947 film the dance direction by Robert Alton significantly changed the dance style; in the 1927 Broadway show it was a Charleston in a ice cream parlor (the surviving bit of the 1929 film put a poorly choreographed routine in a crowded classroom). In the 1947 it was the school dance in the gym ... more important, the usual knock-kneed and bent-over Charleston is replaced with a knee-slapping, high-stepping precision group dance.173.79.234.183 (talk) 22:24, 7 July 2009 (UTC)
