Tone of article[edit]

Wikipedia is not a how-to manual. The article needs to be re-written to reflect this. Andjam 01:45, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've given this article a pretty good rewrite, I didn't discuss it first for the obvious reason that this talk page is inactive. I am writing this incase my changes bring attention to the article and anyone wishes to discuss any other changes. Supra guy 07:07, 17 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I made some minor changes to the lead, and also removed the 'tone' template, since the article has been rewritten to avoid the how-to tone it had previously. uFu (talk) 19:35, 20 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Bear Grylls performs a glissade (with a broken ski pole instead of an ice axe) in the Alaska episode of Man vs. Wild, season one, episode four. [EGB, June 17 2007]

Description[edit]

I read this article without knowing what a Glissade was, and I still don't. Could be improved plzkthx 82.14.196.193 20:21, 25 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Search for "glissading" on YouTube, and it will be pretty clear. Glissading is usually done on steep snow slopes / mountains. Unfortunately we usually can't link to Youtube videos from an encyclopedia article. --Hirsutism (talk) 15:18, 16 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]
