Sir George Hayes → George Hayes (judge) — as per Wikipedia:Naming conventions (names and titles)#British peerage #5."Titles of Knighthood", stand-alone salutations/honorifics and knighthoods, as well as military ranks, academic and governmental titles, etc., are not utilized in Wikipedia main title headers. The parenthetical qualifier "(judge)" seems the most reasonable substitute as a disambiguator from all the other individuals named George Hayes who have Wikipedia biographical entries. —Roman Spinner(talk) 09:11, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply] (Copied to this page from nominator's discussion on Requested Moves page.) — •••Life of Riley (T–C) 21:16, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Feel free to state your position on the renaming proposal by beginning a new line in this section with*'''Support'''or*'''Oppose''', then sign your comment with~~~~. Since polling is not a substitute for discussion, please explain your reasons, taking into account Wikipedia's naming conventions.
Support per Wikipedia naming conventions. •••Life of Riley (T–C) 21:18, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Support - more useful than the present title. Deb (talk) 12:39, 25 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose. This is not our naming convention; compare WP:NCNT: "Sir" may be used in article titles as a disambiguator. If this man needs a disambiguator, Sir is preferable to any parenthesized invention of our own.
In this case, it may not be necessary; the only other George Hayes (no middle name) on the dab page is George Hayes (ice hockey). While a celebrated official in his field, he may be less wanted than a judge and minor poet, like the subject. SeptentrionalisPMAnderson 23:41, 15 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]
