Knockdown Mutant[edit]

I would like to add a redirect from the term "Knockdown Mutant" to this page (once I learn how to make redirects that is).

If I don't hear from anyone who is against it I will assume its alright. Colincbn (talk) 07:28, 2 April 2009 (UTC)[reply]

What are the differences between knockouts and transient knockdowns?[edit]

What are the main differences between knockouts and transient knockdowns (apart from DNA change vs no DNA change)? Will the phenotype be the same? pgr94 (talk) 13:07, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Did some digging: In these articles [1] PMID 18249134, there is a comparison of one gene in mice (knockdown vs knockout). Under the same conditions a difference in phenotype was observed. This article [2] reports "Array analysis revealed remarkable parallelism of transcriptomic changes in knockout and knockdown astrocytes, with similarly altered genes being located on all chromosomes and encoding proteins involved in a wide diversity of cell functions." pgr94 (talk) 14:19, 27 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Commercialization Section[edit]

This section is written like an ad. Should it be removed? 12.31.231.168 (talk) 17:34, 11 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Why discuss CRISPr and TALEN knockouts on a knockdown page?[edit]

The DNA changes induced by gene editing technologies lead to knockouts, not knockdowns. I don't understand why they are being duscussed on a page titled Gene Knockdown. Knockdowns are either genes modified at DNA level for reduced expression or technologies that halt gene expression at the RNA level (e.g. RNAi or antisense).
