The section on Pathophysiology doesn't really cover the pathophys. at all - it just details the organisms involved but doesn't really mention how gas gangrene comes about. Cheekyal (talk) 22:15, 8 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Myonecrosis[edit]

Myonecrosis means death of muscle fibres which can be due to a variety of reasons other than infection with the bacteria Clostridium perfringens. Gas gangrene can cause myonecrosis, but not all myonecrosis is gas gangrene. I do not think that 'myonecrosis' should redirect to 'gas gangrene,' nor should gas gangrene be referred to as simply 'myonecrosis' rather than 'clostridial myonecrosis.'

It would perhaps be better if 'myonecrosis' were to redirect to Necrosis#Other clinical classifications of necrosis. WikEric7 (talk) 19:53, 9 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
