That was so rude and disrespectful to say that someone who has been through something so traumatizing can not share it with the rest of the world. One in every five girls are raped and if one person speaks up about it, maybe they all will. Everything happens for a reason and her experience most likely helped another girl cope with that similar experience. I also, was raped, not by a stranger, but by my own boyfriend. That experience has taught me a lot about love and men. I do not hate men infact i have been with the same man for seven years, but i am not nieve. By sharing her dreadful experience with the world she helps bring light to something so dark that many women choose not to acknowledge the fact that they too are victims of rape let alone talk about it with others. From a man's point of view, I see Ms. Union as a strong and couragous woman. I dated a woman that was a victim of a date rape and the trama that lingers is devastating to say the least. Age issue.[edit]

Was she really born in 1972. Some references need to be cited for the same. The reason I ask is that she acted in the movie "10 Things I hate about you" and played a high school girl at age 27 with co-actors who where a decade younger than her. Name change[edit]

It is rare that an established actress with a well-known name and credits in that name will change it on marriage. Birth date[edit]

As with Mariah Carey, Mick Mars, Lil' Kim and some other celebrities who fudge their birthdates, there are conflicting reliable sources that give both 1972 and 1973. In fact, one of the sources cited here, Encyclopedia of World Biography, has two different years on two different pages of the very same website. IrisC commented in the edit history "Confirmed date of birth as October 29, 1972. During an interview on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on November 4, 2016, Ms. Union confirmed she "turned 44 this past Saturday". This should be authoritative, if accurately reported, as it is her own words and does not appear to be self-serving as it supports an older age and generally when ages are fudged they are fudged to be a bit younger for people well-past young adulthood. It would be great if there were a video available so that others can verify what her exact words were, or some reliable secondary source that reports on the interview.
