Building date[edit]

The building date should be added - if not precisely known then perhaps an estimated one could be given. The wheel arrangement is surely 2-2-2 in the Whyte notattion - the boiler is on one tender, the fuel and water on antoher but the Whyte notation (which is often inadequate for unconventional steam locomotives or for non-steam types) does not take account of tender wheels. Perhaps it would be better to add UIC notation which I believe would be 1A1-3-2 (others may know better) Barney Bruchstein (talk) 10:29, 16 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Strict Specifications[edit]

Where could I find Brunel's "strict specifications" which seem to have been quite misguided and must have put the whole GWR project at risk? Redcliffe maven (talk) 14:47, 2 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

@Redcliffe maven: Funnily enough, I was reading that part about six hours ago.

That's in the original edition of 1927. The revision by C.R. Clinker from 1964 (and subsequent reprints) has different pagination; the part that you're looking for is about two pages before the description of North Star.
