Pulling power[edit]

How many trucks or coaches could these guys pull? I'm asking because I'm writing a story where one of these engines thinks that she herself is stronger than what she was told. Dinoboyaz (talk) 12:52, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It would depend upon several factors, mainly the gradients on the route and the proportion of vehicles connected to the continuous brake. The railways produced documents with names like "Sectional Appendix to the Working Timetable", showing permitted loads for different types of locomotive over various routes. --Redrose64 (talk) 14:29, 22 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The first shall be last[edit]

I can source my claim Nos. 3218 and 3219 were delivered in January 1948, the first locomotives built at Swindon for British Railways. but what I can't source is my opinion that nos. 3218 & 3219 were the only 0-6-0s built for BR, and thus the last of that wheel arrangement built for use in Great Britain. --Redrose64 🌹 (talk) 20:26, 10 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]
