In this article furukawa is portrayed as a all-loving, empathetic patriarch, while the environmental damages his ventures caused are barely mentioned at all.

I agree. this article is very biased right now. I have added a few things from the Ashio Copper Mine article but apart from that the articles only source reads like an industrialist praise of a good businesspartner and not like an encyclopedic description.
