The Frosties Kid

Frosties Kid is actually CGI! Who would've guessed? Well here's some evidence for you: http://frosties.i8.com/

Sure, it's a little irritating but ... I do feel so sorry for that boy, getting beaten up and stuff. At least he's been on TV - what have those bullies ever done? Michaelritchie200 13:11, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

Another point, there are conflicting views on what happened. One bullet point suggests he was beaten up after the advert, and the following one says that he died. Which is it? Michaelritchie200 13:13, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

i would like some citation on him dying --Gausie 22:01, 16 June 2006 (UTC)

I've checked on CNN.com and the international CNN and there is no news at all of this kid... In fact nothing shows up when you search for Frosties. It's not the most annoying advert I've seen, so what's the big deal? cach9801 01:22, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

Exactly. If you Google him, it just links to blogs and stuff of people saying "the frosties kid is gay" and other such witty and intelligent stuff (that was dripping with sarcasm by the way). Hmm... Michaelritchie200 07:51, 20 June 2006 (UTC)

I saw the comments about him dying on the page yesterday, and one saying that he had been beaten up twice. The source for that story was apparantly CNN, but i can't find any reference to it on their site. I have emailed kelloggs, just to check with them. But I think it is just one of those Urban Myths. He's also been given a name - Joe Cheetham, to lend some kind of authority to the rumours. Its silly season in the UK at the moment, with football (soccer) and summer nights. Michael

When is it not silly season on this beautiful island of mine? Michaelritchie200 14:01, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

I heard rumours saying he is dead, but if he was they would take the ad off. Just imagine if your son died recently then, all of a sudden he comes on the TV smiling and singing, it just wouldn't happen81.79.75.13 18:50, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

I tend to agree with you on that one, have a look at the main article talk page. --David C 18:24, 14 July 2006 (UTC)

  • what happened to frosties kid?

What actually happened to him? I've been looking around for it after hearing a rumour in school the other day that he'd killed himself, obviously i presumed this as a rumour. But i searched it and other people seem to have the same idea...Did he die of cancer? Because i heard that too..I'm not all too keen on the advert but i'm not about to rant about here, neither time nor place. Nicola

According to Kelloggs nothing. The advertisment was filmed in South Africa using the firm UDA, using South African actors. check it out at kelloggs home Mike33 20:07, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

Vandalism

As much as you may dislike the skids on the frosties advert, i think we would all appreciate it if you were to refrain from vanalising this article and letting your personal views interfere with its neutrality; I have removed the offensive material in question. David 19:58, 21 June 2006 (UTC)

This VERY offensive material is beyond a joke now - is the nothing that can be done about this crazy behaviour? :-( Mike33 11:27, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Taglines

Under tagles there is a "song" posted-

Everywhere we go.
People want to know.
Who we are.
So we tell them.
We are tigers.
Mighty, mighty tigers.

The poster added the contribution with just an IP address. I think its just a version of a British school song, children used to sing on long coach journies:

Everywhere we go,
People always ask us,
Where'd ya come from?
So we tell them....
We come from (school name)
Mighty, mighty (school name)
And if you can't hear us we'll sing a little louder.
(repeat ad infanit >>)

It was a very annoying song, but can anybody source the mighty, mighty tigers?

If you are going to allow this (please give reasons) then why will you not allow the lyrics (surely classed as taglines) of the current uk advertisment? Mike33 07:18, 27 June 2006 (UTC)

I assume that the lyrics on the advert are subject to copyright laws, whilst as you have stated the "mighty mighty tigers" song is merely a variant on an old chant sung by school children, and therefore probably doesn't constitute as copyright infringement. David 14:00, 28 June 2006 (UTC)

Check the back of your Frosted Flakes box, if it's pretty new.

Source of the Tune of Frosties Advert

Think everybody is bored of the UK frosties advert (this must have been the most vandalised page on wiki ever). The Frostie kid still very much alive on UK TV.

The Song accompanying the advert "they're gonna taste great, they're gonna taste great..." is based upon Ian Dury and The Block Heads" - I Want to be straight

I want to be straight, I want to be straight
I'm sick and tired of taking drugs and staying up late.
I wanna confirm, I wanna conform
I wanna be safe and I wanna be snug and I wanna be warm
I want to be straight, I want to be straight
I wanna create a place of my own in the welfare state
Brr, gonna be good, brr, gonna be kind
It might be a wrench but think of the stench I'm leaving behind
I want to be straight, I want to be straight
Come out of the cold and do what I'm told and don't deviate
I wanna give, I wanna give, I wanna give my consent
I'm learning to hate all the things that were great when I used to be… bent!

[| Song Lyrics]

Its an unfortunate aquasition of a tune (although not uncommon in advertising Vitalite/Me Israelite)- Perhaps that is why it has caused controversy. In this instance as you can see - straight means having a normal everyday routine rather than sexuality.

DEATH

Did he or did he not kill himself? There are so many rumors we all need the truth. (btw people are vandalising the page with rumors and then linking to wikipedia to spread the rumors more)

The frosties Kid

mmm the frosties kid - Oscar Wilde once said about stories about how he had demised "...Rumours of my death have been greatly exaggerated".
According to my email from kelloggs no. The advert was filmed in South Africa using South African actors. The agency UDA was the advertising agency involved.
I have sent in a complaint to the Advertising Standards Agency UK - explaining that Kelloggs may be using the enormous debate on the net (over 500 forum new topics and blogs) about the advert that the advertisers were exploiting their actors.
I doubt ASA (UK) will abritrate on the case. Probably, reject it outhand, but hope it closes the nonsense. The website for adjudications is [| ASA Adjudications]
The new ASA adjudications are published every wednesday.
Hope it helps, Mike Mike33 19:43, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

Rumours about the Frosties Kid

Anyone can find hundreds of sources about the frosties kid (but they are from forums and blogs) -

'They're gonna taste great!'
rumors After the release of a British television advertisement for Frosties, which featured a teenage boy singing a crude song (main lyric - 'They're gonna taste great!'), rumors began to circulate around the UK that the boy had committed suicide due to the largely predictable bullying he was expected to experience after having starred in the seemingly embarrassing advert. The ad continues to be shown, however, which probably disproves the rumors.

DELETED

The editor could have used specific sources about the frosties rumour. think it would be better to deliever this kind of thing to wiki page. urban myth item deleted Mike33 21:34, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

  • Good call Mike, this has been an issue on this page for a while now, and the people who post it never have any citations or references of facts, so I think it was a good idea to delete.
