HB08-1069[edit]

I removed the dueling discussion of HB08-1069 from the main article, as I couldn't readily find any references for either side of the discussion. If someone does find references, I'll be happy to re-add discussion of McNulty's involvement in amending HB08-1069 (whatever that may be). -- Sethant (talk) 21:08, 1 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

As a member of the Agriculture Committee he has worked actively against Sportsmen groups. On January 23, 2008, he added a poison pill amendment to HB08-1069. This bill was designed to allow Colorado Division of Wildlife officers to begin enforcing existing regulations related to vehicles that travel off highway. This bill was supported by a diverse coalition including the Colorado Off-Highway Vehicle Coalition, Colorado Bow Hunters Association, Colorado Mountain Association, the Colorado Wildlife Federation, Trout Unlimited, and the Theodore Roosevelt Conservation Partnership. He is fast becoming a symbol of why hunters and fisherman cannot trust the Republican Party to keep the wild places wild for future generations.[citation needed]
While some sportsmen's groups opposed the amendment, others called it a bold move to protect access to our public lands. They applauded him for his courage in standing up to federal and state bureaucrats who would rather keep our public lands off limits to certain public uses like recreational shooting, atv activities and off-highway vehicles. He focused on keeping our public lands open for the public's use and enjoyment.[citation needed]
