Effectiveness[edit]

Forthave's Vinegar[edit]

I don't know about the reference to Forthave's Vinegar... even the site it's mentioned on and cited from doesn't really seem to portray it as a reliable fact, but rather as just a curious story; and since the vinegar is originally named in French sources, where Forthave would not sound like the words for 'four thieves' I can't imagine it's very reliable. An old 19th century book (link) is the earliest I've seen of the Forthave story, which tells it alongside a bunch of other unlikely historical tidbits. It also claims that this Forthave's vinegar was first cited 1749, about 10 years after the earliest references I've seen to Thieves Vinegar from French sources. I also find no references to Forthave's Vinegar in the actual 18th century when he was supposed to have been selling it -- only from 19th and 20th century sources repeating the same story. I kind of feel like, if this fact about Forthave's Vinegar is to remain up, it needs a note of its unlikeliness. --174.56.0.212 (talk) 05:12, 4 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thieves Oil[edit]

"Thieves" trademark[edit]

The "thieves" in four thieves vinegar is currently trademarked by Young Living, which gives them exclusive rights to this version of the name. There has been some controversy over this in the herbalist community. Should information about this go in the article, the Young Living article, or both?

Latin in lede[edit]
