I'm familiar with the area of Fort Barnwell and never heard of it having been a US Army base - I've also Googled the fact and can't find anything supporting the claim. Also it is linked to South Carolina Militia which links to Confederate Army - The Fort Barnwell referred to was colonial fort that existed for only a couple of years in the fight against a local indian tribe. It was gone long before the US Army or Confederate Army existed.

And as long as we are at it ... It is no where near the Pamlico Sound and I really doubt if "It receives mail through the Fort Barnwell Baptist Church"
