Formosa redirects to Formosa (disambiguation)[edit]

Please open a WP:RM discussion to establish a clear consensus about this. Formosa has the substantive edit history and needs to be moved. From the edit history, most of the time it has been a redirect to Geography of Taiwan; when it has not been that redirect it has been a redirect to Taiwan. Personally, I think the latter redirect is more apt, but it appears by a strict interpretation the term only applied to Taiwan (island) rather than the to the entire entity (although I think common usage would suggest otherwise). The discussion at Talk:Taiwan#Formosa is confused and inconclusive. older ≠ wiser 13:25, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

There is disagreement on some points at Talk:Taiwan#Formosa, but consensus that Formosa should be a disambig, not a redirect to Geography of Taiwan, which only covers one of the uses of the name. User:Bkonrad, who has four times reverted edits to the Formosa page today, has here misleadingly signed as older ≠ wiser, and did not contribute to the discussion at Talk:Taiwan. As I said, the discussion at Talk:Taiwan#Formosa is confused and cannot be taken as conclusive consensus to move pages, which is what is required to avoid WP:MALPLACED. My edits were nothing more than restoring the page prior to your edits (first a cut-and-paste; then a few iterations of creating a WP:MALPLACED disambiguation page. older ≠ wiser 14:07, 6 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]
