What is the bell housing for this engine? Can it be successfully adapted to rear wheel drive transmissions?

The article itself says what BH pattern it has. But, in short, yes, it can be mated to RWD transmissions like the AOD or T5. Look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Ford_bellhousing_patterns .
