The S Max looks like a fantastic car

A production car with 4 A-pilars is car of the year, unbelievable ? I am afraid of this car.

way is this model not suitable for the American market ?

S-MAX no S-Max[edit]

Engine versions[edit]

This is not correct 'All S-Max's use versions of the Ford Duratorq engine or Ford Duratec engine. The S-Max uses a five- speed or six- speed manual transmission, and a six-speed automatic option.

   * 2.5 220 PS, 6 Speed Manual (217 hp)(shared with the Ford Mondeo)'

This motor is not a Ford engine, instead comes from Volvo, that is its a 5 cylinder inline turbo. I believe its based on the B524T2. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Volvo_B52_engine#B5254S

Update[edit]

This article needs an update as the whole platform has seen its "midlife cycle action" implemented in late 2010. E.g. the whole engine line-up has changed. Maybe there even is a picture of the current state and its slightly revised styling available somewhere. I have not enough knowledge to do it myself.
