Concerning reference to the broad definition of the term.[edit]

Bkonrad, I would very much appreciate it if you would stop edit warring this edit out of the page without a valid policy reason (as opposed to your personal preference). As per our core policy page on disambigs (which I have referred you to twice now) these kinds of short descriptions of the general meaning of a DAB's topic are not only allowable but considered appropriate and useful for helping the reader determine the context of the subtopics -- and this standard remains valid regardless of whether there is a Wiktionary entry for the topic. Please do not revert again unless you can cite wording that is found in an actual policy page, rather than a guiding principle which you seem to have settled upon yourself but which is not supported by community consensus. Bear in mind also please that you are up again WP:3RR and given the circumstances (edit warring while citing only your idiosyncratic approach as opposed to actual policy) I will be tempted to take this to the appropriate noticeboard, though I am generally loathe to do so.

If you wish to RfC the issue, you are free to put that effort in and I will participate in that discussion, but A) I think that will be a waste of time and almost certain not to result in the outcome you'd prefer and B) I consider the onus to be upon you to file the discussion as you've not cited any actual principle derived from policy, so I'll still consider seeking administrative involvement if you revert without directly quoting policy and before seeking new perspectives through the appropriate channels. Snow Rise, I would very much appreciate it if you would stop edit warring to add links that are irrelevant for disambiguation in complete disregard of the relevant editing guideline. Bear in mind also please that you are up against WP:3RR and given the circumstances (edit warring while citing only your idiosyncratic approach as opposed to actual policy) I will be tempted to take this to the appropriate noticeboard, though I am generally loathe to do so. olderwiser 15:54, 3 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Very well, since you are in violation of WP:3RR, are supplanting your preferred approach over community consensus, are unwilling to discuss this matter in a collaborative or civil fashion, and refuse to support your argument with an actual policy citation as you continue to edit war (the section of the policy you link to says nothing on this matter, as you must well know, while the section I linked to explicitly address it in unambigous terms that run contrary to your position) it would seem I have no choice but seek administrative involvement, which is a shame. Nevermind, I assumed from the parroting tone and lack of discussion in your response above that your most recent edit was yet another revert of the page to the original pre-description state, and I failed to do due diligence in confirming that before commenting here. I see now, however that you actually simply stripped down the statement to bare bones. Why you wouldn't just note this in your comments here and see how I was disposed to the approach I don't know, but in any event I can live with this edit as a reasonable compromise solution to this issue and am happy to consider the matter done with.
