Untitled[edit]

I didn't create this article - but I knew a bit about the company so I figured I'd add to it. If it's not Wiki-notable, then go ahead and remove it - I'm not married to it. It just looked like it could stand to be expanded :) --Inaxdaze 02:44, 12 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I edited a little bit (added the last 2 paragraphs) but no much.

vw[edit]

They have recently teamed yup with volkswagon (sp?) to include a guitar the plugs into the audio system and uses it as in a senses a bigass rolling amp.

If you can find information on this, as in a published news article that states this, it would be cool information. I do know about the system you're talking about, the commercial with the guy playing guitar, "It's got airbags!", but I know not of whom it was said to be involved in that. You're absolutely correct; I've largely gutted this article and rewritten other parts. Hopefully it sounds better. Of note however was the removal of unsourced/dubious paragraphs on their "notable clientèle" and the recording studio they own. tear it down, start again[edit]

This stub (article?) is outdated as First Act has been somewhat dead for years, like 2014. There is a certain collector demand for some of their models (particularly those few made in the United States) as well as oddities like the Paul Westerberg signature or the "Volkswagen" or "Garage" model. The "Guitar Studio" was an interesting idea that quickly became a vanity project. Maybe I'll get around to outlining an actual history of the brand. Criticism Section[edit]

Leave this article alone[edit]

The massive 15 Aug cut by user CoolieColster is at best ill advised, and will largely be reverted (by me) along with overdue editing.

The company went through a rapid and ill-advised ramp-up — including some lines of highly regarded guitars built in its First Act Guitar Studio, and ties to Rick Nielsen, Paul Westerberg, Martin Gore, and Adam Levine — with multiple brand dilutions, until 2014 when it all but collapsed and was an easy target for acquisition. And THAT is the story around which a proper article may be built.

To refer to the major destruction of that history as a "De-Advertisement Edit" is ludicrous. Chopping 6,674 is a hairsbreadth short of de facto deletion. Most pointedly, First Act has been basically a toy brand since ~2015, so there's no basis whatsoever to pretend that even greatly detailed description of the DEFUNCT musical instrument lines is in any way "advertisement." There are certainly self-promo articles all through WP that are much more deserving of this degree of vigilante vandalism.

Props to ViperSnake151, but a section about one model of guitar is a far cry from enough to fill an encyclopedic article. For instance, I see you didn't mention the guitarist in the promotion's ads.

I have added back a bunch of previously deleted information, removed a few pounds of promo-speak, and added detail. Supporting info is NOT as difficult to locate as I'd first thought. But until I get time to make the links (which right now could be weeks), anyone who feels the urge to start cutting stuff ought INSTEAD either fill in the gaps OR go away, 'kay?
