Wikis like ours develop faster when everybody helps to

Read WP:BRD. If your changes are reverted you come here to the talk page to discuss them, you don't edit war by reinstating your changes as you have done here. Mztourist (talk) 07:41, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mztourist: Why on earth did you feel the need to remove a picture of the rough location of the firebase? Bosley John Bosley (talk) 07:52, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Because a "rough location" map conveys practically no information. If any reader wants to know the location, they can click the link and see exactly where it was and what it looks like now. Mztourist (talk) 07:57, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Shit answer: the more pictures the more engaging the article. Bosley John Bosley (talk) 08:05, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No its not a "shit answer" and I don't agree that a pushpin map makes the page more engaging. Mztourist (talk) 08:07, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mztourist: Just supposing there was one of McNamara's Morons amongst this small cadre of ours. If he knew the answer, would he know how to tell? If he did not know the answer, would he know how to ask? Bosley John Bosley (talk) 08:13, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand what you are trying to say here. Mztourist (talk) 08:14, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't believe the term firebase is within the vocabulary of a substantial portion of the Wikipedia readership. Yes I can click the link, but there are stakeholders who do not have that ability - say receiving the information in paper format. It is annoying. Bosley John Bosley (talk) 14:18, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't share your belief. Firebase was a common term in the Vietnam War and is used in all reference books and linked across all Vietnam War pages on WP. I doubt that many people print off pages of WP to read. Mztourist (talk) 15:54, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I think it is my perspective that you do not share. Here are Tips for New and Experienced Writers by someone with no beef. Bosley John Bosley (talk) 22:24, 15 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
No its your "I don't believe the term firebase is within the vocabulary of a substantial portion of the Wikipedia readership." that I don't share. I'm not interested in reading some non WP writing guidance. Mztourist (talk) 11:11, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I appreciate that you have put a lot of work into tha article but, as it says above, Wikis like ours develop faster when everybody helps. C'mon you need to let others do their bit. Bosley John Bosley (talk) 19:16, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand why you have come to this page and decided that your proposed changes are an improvement and should be retained. Mztourist (talk) 03:48, 17 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Yeah, it is pefectly apparent from the article that you are as thick as pigshit. I was attempting to make the article less arduous for the more intelligent reader. Bosley John Bosley (talk) 10:48, 23 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I support John's idea "the more pictures the more engaging the article" in this case. A pushpin map on the front is more attractive than something hidden on the back. By the way, a smaller map will keep the infobox balanced. Leemyongpak (talk) 03:18, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
I disagree, a pushpin map of a red dot on an outline of Vietnam conveys practically nothing and does not make the article more engaging. Mztourist (talk) 11:11, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
Certainly, because I'm sharing User:Bosley_John_Bosley's perspective. Leemyongpak (talk) 13:21, 16 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Siege (9 August to 7 October 1970)[edit]

Elements of the 1/1st at the O'Reilly

What does this mean? Bosley John Bosley (talk) 07:33, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It means the 1st Regiment, 1st Division. Mztourist (talk) 07:43, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
@Mztourist: 1st Regiment, 1st Division?, please elaborate? Bosley John Bosley (talk) 07:46, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
What more elaboration is needed? The ARVN 1st Division was composed of 4 Regiments, the individual regiments do not have their own pages. I have defined 1/1st on the page to clarify it. Mztourist (talk) 07:54, 14 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
