Created page

I created this page with some basic information culled from the Boston Globe article, the Gamewell-FCI company history page, and some brief searching on the internet. The page can use some more work including putting the citations in as well as more relevant information. The history currently focuses on Gamewell, but it should probably also talk about other systems. I did not have much information on how the systems actually function or the collecting community, so hopefully somebody can fill that in. Given the history of these boxes have, they deserve their own page apart from the current pages dedicated almost entirely to modern systems. --Johnm4 (talk) 23:15, 28 January 2008 (UTC)

Merge with multiple-alarm fire

Multiple alarm fire needs to be merged into this article. Most of the content on that page is bollocks anyway. --plaws (talk) 19:07, 27 December 2014 (UTC)

Merger Proposal

I would like to merge the two articles. It seems that since they are both pull stations, with a box being a sub type, they should be merged. AndrewrpTally-ho! 01:29, 19 October 2011 (UTC)

I'd have to disagree with the merge. While they both are similarly operated alerting devices, they serve very different purposes. C(u)w(t)C(c) 14:34, 30 October 2013 (UTC)

Gamewell should not be merged with fire dept. pull stations inasmuch as they also manufactured "Cop Call Boxes" that had telephones in them. See also, www.bluecopbox.com

It's been three years. I, too, disagree with the merge. Though there are fire alarm telegraph systems in buildings that work identically to the ones found on (mostly) North American streets, they are few and very far between. I'm pulling the template! --plaws (talk) 18:40, 27 December 2014 (UTC)
