– The current title of Finlay MacDonald (politician) is ambiguous, and his son's article gets more average page views than it does. They were both members of the Parliament of Canada from Nova Scotia (one in the lower house and one in the upper). —BarrelProof (talk) 06:21, 16 September 2018 (UTC) --Relisting. • Support. Generally speaking, adding years of life to the title should only be done as a last resort — but since father and son were both politicians, it's necessary here. Dabbing them as "politician" and "senator" is wrongheaded, both because senators are politicians and because the Senate wasn't the only political role the son held (it is the article-clinching one, admittedly, but he was involved in politics in other ways before being named to the Senate.) So unless somebody can locate some evidence that they were ever commonly known as "Sr." and "Jr." (the only other potential option here), birth years it is.
